Welcome to Caradoc class, where learning flourishes in a nurturing and engaging environment! Nestled in beautiful surroundings, our mixed Year 3 and 4 class embraces the joy of outdoor learning, offering students the chance to explore nature while developing essential skills. In our classroom, we embark on exciting adventures, where each day brings new challenges, igniting a passion for knowledge that lasts a lifetime.
In the Autumn term we started off by exploring the book ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne. We loved our special guest Bouncer, a life sized gorilla teddy who kept us company throughout the topic. We researched gorillas in their natural habitats and how other wild animals lived. After reading the story, we wrote our own versions, making changes to the characters and the settings. In History we explored the invasion of the Anglo-Saxons and how Christianity was introduced to Britain. We enjoyed making our own wattle and daub structures. Our art unit saw us trying out various skills, including, 3-D pencil drawings, wax drawings, creating sense of proportion and then making prints with polystyrene squares. Our Science saw lots of messy investigations as we explored the human digestive system. Our final lesson saw us recreate the digestion of beans on toast, using tights to replicate the stomach and intestines.
As we returned from the half term break we were greeted not by our classroom, but a circus! We enjoyed a morning of circus tricks, music, popcorn and candyfloss. This really supported and inspired our imaginations when creating pieces of writing linked to the text ‘Leon and the Place Between’. Our DT project was designing, building and testing sling-shot cars. We had great fun racing against each other to find our champion! Our Geography evoked lots of strong feelings, as we explored the decisions made on buying local food or importing.
